awareness. Use the rip and read technique. This technique means carrying a folder with you wherever you
go. Rip out newspaper articles, magazine articles and whenever you have some time to spare read and
learn.
-- Learn from the experts. People who lead your field have tremendous gifts. They have gone through the
steps to achieve their skills and techniques. In order to minimize the cost of books, wait until the book
is in paperback. Books that are published in paperback have stood the test of the market. Always read
with a highlighter, once read all you need to do is to review the highlights in the future.
-- Write a book report at the end. It reconfirms what you learn and also increases your writing ability. In
other words learn to read with a pen or pencil.
-- Join book clubs in your field and keep up.
-- Subscribe to book condensation clubs. These are clubs that provide summaries of the most popular books on the market. They highlight the key areas of the book. Instead of reading two to three hundred pages, read 8 to 10. Imagine how many books you will read.
-- Take a speed-reading course, like alpanetics of the Evelyn Wood speed-reading program. It allows you to read and retain, many times 50% more. It has worked for me.
-- Learn how to read efficiently. A popular method is the “OPIR” system.
